The first is part 11, Matty's New Wardrobe? Shopping Spree from Hell, written by yours truely with invaluable assistance from a friend of mine, Carolyn Ede. (Sadly, like many others who have contributed to these writings, I've lost touch with Carolyn over the years... but would love to renew contact. Carolyn, should you by some chance of fate read this, drop me a line!)
That story was the direct inspiration for my pal Jason Bertovich (ironically, as he is one of BS½'s long distance contributers, not living in Holyoke -- or even in Massachusetts -- as portrayed within the fiction, one of the few contributers I do still have contact with) to create what originally seemed like a one shot side story, but would soon become BS½'s first full-blown spin-off! So I also have prepared for you the first in that series, Jason's Perspectives from the Food Court.
Finally, a bit of sad news. I learned today of the passing, in real life, of a person who has made an apearance (albeit, a brief, unspeaking cameo in part 13) in Boy Scouts ½. This is, to the best of my recolection, the first time this has happened. Not a milestone I was looking forward to, however. So, I would like to dedicate today's update to the memory of former Camp Moses chef extraordinaire, inventer of the (in)famous Chicken à la Sare, and all around great guy, Sare Healy. Rest in peace, sir, and I am sure your cooking will be a big hit in heaven.
